A 39-year-old man, Kyle Chris, was arrested Wednesday night after entering Zwink Elementary School in Texas armed and wearing tactical gear through an unsecured door, Klein Independent School District police reported.
Chris reportedly entered the school campus Tuesday during a brief 15-second window when the front door did not fully close after a parent exited. He carried a holstered firearm and was dressed in a uniform-like outfit. The school’s secure vestibule system confined him to the front office area, preventing access to student hallways.
According to district officials, front office staff requested identification from Chris, which he refused to provide. Staff then alerted the school’s armed, full-time campus security guard. Chris subsequently left the school premises and drove away without causing harm to students or staff.
The district withheld public notification until the next day to avoid compromising law enforcement surveillance and arrest efforts. Following the incident, additional security measures, including increased police presence, were implemented at the campus as a precaution.
Chris claimed to be a security guard but is reportedly unemployed. He faces a felony charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place and remains held at Harris County jail on a $75,000 bond.
