California Man Charged for Assaulting TSA and Dallas Police at Airport

A California man faces federal charges after allegedly attacking two TSA officers and seriously injuring a Dallas police officer at Dallas Love Field Airport on March 10. Idress Vinay Solomon, 33, of Oakland, California, was charged with forcibly assaulting a federal officer and causing bodily injury, carrying a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years.

According to a federal complaint, Solomon arrived at the airport security checkpoint without identification. TSA officers directed him to a separate lane for identity verification through the ConfirmID process. When his identity could not be verified, Solomon reportedly became verbally disruptive and aggressive.

The complaint states Solomon punched one TSA officer in the back of the neck after the officer called for a supervisor. Dallas police responded to the scene, where Solomon allegedly struck one officer multiple times in the face, causing a serious orbital blowout fracture to the officer’s left eye that required hospital treatment.

After his arrest, Solomon reportedly spat saliva onto a police officer’s arm while officers attempted to place him into a police vehicle. Prosecutors said he refused to follow lawful commands, continuing to yell and pull away from the officers.

U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould emphasized that violent conduct against TSA and law enforcement officers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent to seek justice and deter similar attacks.

Video footage from the incident shows Solomon’s aggressive behavior at the security checkpoint, according to federal investigators. The case remains under federal prosecution.
