Kentucky Woman Dies After Being Dragged Under St. Patrick’s Day Parade Float

A Kentucky woman died after being dragged and crushed under a float during the 53rd annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Louisville on March 14. Authorities responded to the incident near Bardstown Road and Grinstead Drive just before 4 p.m.

Accident Details and Response

The victim, identified as 50-year-old Joan Pannuti, was walking alongside the float when her foot became caught, causing her to fall beneath the vehicle. The float immediately stopped, and first responders provided aid before transporting her to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Video footage obtained by WDRB showed the moments after Pannuti was dragged under the float, which was being towed by a silver truck decorated with four-leaf clovers. Bystanders rushed to assist her while waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

Community and Official Reactions

The parade organizers, the Hibernian Cultural and Charitable Association, expressed that they are “deeply saddened by the tragic accident.” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg issued a statement on social media calling for prayers for Pannuti’s family and friends.

“I am so sorry to hear about the tragic accident that took a woman’s life at today’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” Greenberg said. “Please join Rachel and me in keeping her family and friends in your prayers.”

The Louisville Metro Police Department has not released additional information following the incident.
