Brenda Meza, a 34-year-old school staffer at Franklin Middle School in the Greeley-Evans School District 6, Colorado, is wanted on 12 felony charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old student. Authorities reported that Meza is currently on the run following the investigation.
Allegations and Investigation
Local police said Meza, who worked as a secretary, cross-country coach, and games club advisor, allegedly groomed the eighth-grade student over several months. According to the arrest affidavit cited by the New York Post, she provided the student with alcohol and drugs, engaged in lewd text exchanges, and arranged multiple meetings at locations including a Walmart parking lot and a local park.
Investigators determined Meza engaged in continuous sexual abuse of the minor. The relationship reportedly began with sexually explicit messages and photos in November, escalating to sexual intercourse in January. Police allege she purchased marijuana edibles and alcohol for the encounters, all of which were repeated multiple times over subsequent weeks.
School and Police Response
The investigation began on February 12 after an anonymous tip alerted authorities to the abuse. Following school officials confronting Meza, she admitted to her husband about inappropriate conduct and substance use involving the student. She was placed on administrative leave and terminated by February 25.
The Greeley Police Department is pursuing charges including sexual assault of a child, online enticement of a minor, tampering with evidence, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The school district has stated it is cooperating fully with law enforcement and emphasized that student safety remains its top priority.
Current Status
Meza reportedly left the area during the investigation and remains at large. Authorities continue efforts to locate and arrest her in connection with the felony charges.
