Four Michigan Officers Injured Rescuing Five from Fiery Crash

Four Michigan police officers were injured Wednesday while rescuing five people trapped in a car that collided with a tractor-trailer and burst into flames in Canton Township, southeast Michigan. The crash occurred near an intersection just after noon.

Officers arrived at the scene to find bright orange flames and thick black smoke engulfing the vehicles. They immediately pulled five passengers from the burning car. Both officers and victims were transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical, according to the Canton Township Police Department.

Eyewitness Cameron Martin described hearing multiple “booms” and seeing flames reaching approximately 30 feet high. The crash took place near two gas stations, prompting officers to order evacuations and halt fuel pumping to prevent further danger. Emergency services responded rapidly, including six ambulances and five fire trucks.

The tractor-trailer involved sustained a large dent on its side and its cab was heavily damaged by fire. The incident caused significant disruption, with traffic lights above the intersection damaged and road closures lasting for hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
