Mexican Man Arrested After Climbing Under El Paso Border Overpass

A Mexican migrant was arrested after attempting to cross into the U.S. by climbing beneath a busy El Paso overpass near the U.S.-Mexico border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported on Tuesday. The incident took place near Loop 375 close to the Bridge of the Americas crossing, an area known for heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

The man navigated along support beams under the overpass above active traffic before agents intervened and arrested him, according to CBP. Video of the arrest was shared on the agency’s official Instagram account, highlighting the ongoing efforts by border officials to address evolving and hazardous crossing tactics.

This location has seen similar incidents previously. In November 2025, two individuals were observed using wooden planks to move beneath the same overpass between concrete support beams. Such actions raise safety concerns for both migrants and drivers in the area.

CBP emphasized its vigilance in preventing unlawful border entries, stating, “Strong borders are the foundation of National Security.” The agency continues to monitor and respond to increasingly dangerous methods used by migrants attempting illegal crossings in the region.
