Rep. Jasmine Crockett Won’t Address Hiring Bodyguard with Criminal Record

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, declined to answer questions regarding the hiring of her security guard, Diamon-Mazairre Robinson, who had a criminal history and was recently killed during an armed standoff with Dallas law enforcement. Crockett directed inquiries to a prior statement from her office, refusing further comment.

Security Guard’s Criminal History and Death

Robinson, 39, who also used the alias “Mike King,” was involved in a fatal standoff with a SWAT team after barricading himself inside the garage of a children’s hospital. Police sought to detain him related to an active warrant, recovering 11 firearms during the investigation. His criminal record included previous offenses such as theft, probation violations, and impersonation of law enforcement.

Crockett acknowledged knowing Robinson under his alias and said he had been employed by her office for several years without raising suspicion. The lawmaker’s team reportedly vetted him according to House protocols for contracting security personnel.

Crockett’s Office Responds to Vetting Concerns

In a statement, Crockett’s office expressed shock and sadness over the revelations about Robinson’s background. The statement noted that the office followed all House guidelines and used an approved vendor who provided security services to other local entities and coordinated with law enforcement, including the Capitol Police.

The office said it was surprised that Robinson’s background had not been discovered earlier and highlighted the incident as indicative of gaps in the vetting process for congressional security contractors.
