Dequavia Denise Rogers, a Houston woman facing 37 felony theft charges, was arrested on March 13 and subsequently released on a $75,000 bond ordered by Judge Nata Cornelio. Rogers was on parole when apprehended and had allegedly been on the run for several months prior to her arrest.
Arrest and Charges
Rogers was booked into the Harris County Jail with 11 new felony charges related to theft, including multiple counts of theft under $2,500 and theft over $2,500. Most of her 37 felony theft charges have been accumulated within the past year. Jail records confirm her release following the bond decision.
Parole Status and Prior Incidents
At the time of her arrest, Rogers was still on parole for a separate offense. Reports indicate she continued to commit theft offenses while on parole, with four separate felony theft charges filed against her in September 2025 alone. These incidents involved stealing items from an HEB grocery store and a Sephora store.
Advocacy and Public Concern
Andy Kahan, director of victim services and advocacy for Crime Stoppers of Houston, highlighted the need for tougher consequences for repeat offenders like Rogers, stating that current measures have not adequately addressed habitual thefts in her case.
