Iranian Man and Romanian Woman Charged After Attempted Entry at UK Nuclear Base

An Iranian man and a Romanian woman have been charged following an attempted unauthorized entry at HM Naval Base Clyde, the United Kingdom’s primary nuclear missile facility, Police Scotland announced Saturday.

Attempted Entry and Arrest

Police Scotland reported that the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, when the pair tried to access the naval base without the correct passes. Both individuals were turned away at the entrance and subsequently arrested nearby on suspicion of acting suspiciously. The Iranian man is 34 years old, and the Romanian woman is 31. They are scheduled to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday, March 23.

Significance of HM Naval Base Clyde

HM Naval Base Clyde, also known as Faslane, hosts the UK’s core submarine service, including its nuclear deterrent fleet. It accommodates nine Royal Navy submarines—five conventionally-armed nuclear-powered Astute-class attack submarines and four Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarines that form the country’s submarine-based nuclear deterrent.

Official Responses and Ongoing Investigation

A Royal Navy spokesperson confirmed the arrests but declined further comment due to the ongoing investigation. Police Scotland continues inquiries into the incident. Fox News Digital has reached out to Police Scotland for additional details.
