Kansas Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Park Stabbing

A Kansas man was charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a woman in an unprovoked attack at Two Trails Park in Olathe, authorities said. Kwan Noble Trezvant, 27, was arrested following a Thursday report of an armed disturbance on North Ridgeview Road.

Police found the 38-year-old victim, identified as Jamie Trumpp, suffering from critical stab wounds. She was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive, according to the Olathe Police Department and local reports. Trumpp is a choir teacher at Indian Trail Middle School.

The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office stated in its complaint that Trezvant intentionally and with premeditation attempted to kill Trumpp. He appeared in court on Friday and is being held on a $500,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.

Trezvant has a prior criminal record including a 2024 misdemeanor battery conviction involving a law enforcement officer and previous guilty pleas in 2020 for obstructing legal process and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Community members have since organized a meal train fundraiser to support Trumpp and her family. Police described the stabbing as “completely unprovoked.”
