Mandolyn Ann Shaffer-Brockwell, 37, of Orlando, Florida, was arrested following a road rage incident on February 23 near the Mall of Millenia, according to the Orlando Police Department. She faces multiple charges including battery of a person 65 years or older, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, burglary of a conveyance with assault/battery, and resisting an officer with violence.
Incident Involving Pregnant Driver and Elderly Bystander
Police released video footage showing Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly punching a pregnant woman in the face after forcibly opening the driver’s side door of her vehicle. The pregnant woman told authorities that Shaffer-Brockwell had repeatedly stopped her car short distances ahead, prompting her to honk and attempt lane changes to escape. The woman also had a child in the car at the time.
An elderly woman who witnessed the altercation intervened, but Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly struck and scratched her in the face. Police shared images of the elderly woman’s visible injuries sustained during the encounter.
Confrontation with Police and Arrest
After a description of Shaffer-Brockwell and her vehicle was provided by one of the victims, officers located her. When an officer attempted to detain her, Shaffer-Brockwell resisted violently. Body camera footage captured her biting an officer’s wrist while being handcuffed. She repeatedly used profanity toward law enforcement before her arrest.
Shaffer-Brockwell was taken into custody without further incident subsequent to the confrontation.
