Oregon Man Re-Arrested for Threatening to Kill Trump

An Oregon man was taken back into custody after sending death threats to his probation officer, including threats against former President Donald Trump. Diedrich Holgate, 47, was previously convicted and sentenced last July for making threats on social media and directly to the U.S. Secret Service against Trump and President Joe Biden.

Prior Threats and Conviction

Holgate’s hostile communications began in June 2024 when he called the Secret Service’s Washington Field Office threatening to kill the president and claiming a right to do so. Federal indictment documents cited threats such as, “I will kill everyone,” and references to hanging officials for treason. Two months later, he made further threats targeting the First Lady and Supreme Court justices.

Probation Violations and New Threats

After his release from custody on January 21, 2026, Holgate was ordered to reside in a halfway house. His probation officer later filed a petition to revoke his supervised release, citing multiple violations — including failure to report for meetings, leaving the halfway house, and smoking vaping products.

The petition also detailed new threatening text messages from Holgate to his probation officer demanding that Trump pardon him, warning, “Trump’s gonna fkn pardon me or I’ll kill him!!!!” and accusing others of being traitors.

Judicial Review and Next Steps

A magistrate judge found probable cause that Holgate violated his release conditions and ordered him held in custody pending a hearing scheduled for March 26, 2026. Holgate has a prior 2018 conviction for sending threatening voicemails to judges in Texas.
