Iran Military Vows to Fight “Until Complete Victory” Amid Heavy Losses

An Iranian military spokesman declared on March 24, 2026, that Tehran’s armed forces will continue fighting “until complete victory” despite sustaining significant losses in the joint U.S. and Israeli campaign known as Operation Epic Fury.

Operation Epic Fury’s Impact on Iranian Forces

Operation Epic Fury began on February 28, 2026, targeting Iranian military assets in a large-scale campaign involving over 9,000 combat flights, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). CENTCOM reported the destruction or damage of more than 140 Iranian naval vessels, including mine-laying ships struck on March 10. The campaign has also targeted air defense systems, submarines, anti-ship missile sites, military communications infrastructure, and ballistic missile and drone manufacturing facilities.

President Donald Trump described the Iranian military losses during the operation, stating major components such as the Iranian Navy, Air Force, and anti-aircraft capabilities “are gone.” He also claimed that Iran’s leadership has been decimated over recent weeks.

Iran’s Response and Military Resolve

Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters – the country’s top military command – reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to defending Iran’s sovereignty. State media quoted Aliabadi saying, “Iran’s powerful armed forces are proud, victorious and steadfast in defending Iran’s integrity, and this path will continue until complete victory.” He did not specify what “complete victory” entails.

The announcement followed President Trump’s decision on March 23 to pause planned U.S. strikes on Iran, citing diplomatic progress.
