At least two students died and several others were injured after a school bus was involved in a multi-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 70 in Carroll County, West Tennessee, officials confirmed.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Maj. Travis Plotzer stated the crash involved a state Department of Transportation dump truck, a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV, and the school bus. Authorities indicated the dump truck did not appear to contribute to the incident, which remains under investigation.
Bus Carrying Kenwood Middle School Students
The school bus was transporting 25 students and five adults from Kenwood Middle School on a field trip to Jackson, Tennessee, according to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. The district announced that all families of those on the bus have been contacted and extended condolences to the affected community.
Injuries and Hospitalizations
Seven people were taken to hospitals in the area with injury details not yet fully disclosed. Four injured individuals were admitted to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, where officials reported they were in stable condition. Additionally, 19 others were evaluated and later released from Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County.
