Caller Tracks Moving Vehicle Until Police Intervene
The dangerous situation unfolded when a 911 caller reported a driver appearing to be passed out in a vehicle that had not stopped and was continuing to roll through the streets. The caller remained on the line, providing updates that helped officers track and safely stop the car. Police photos show the driver slumped back in the seat with the vehicle stationary amid traffic.
Evidence of Impairment Inside Vehicle
Officers found multiple items inside the car indicating impairment, including an open box of wine, a partially consumed bottle, and takeout food scattered across the passenger seat. Police Highlight Importance of Alert Drivers Despite Assistive Technology
The Vacaville Police Department emphasized that while some vehicles have assistive or self-driving features, these systems are not substitutes for a sober and alert driver. Officials also praised the quick actions of the 911 caller, whose vigilance helped prevent what could have been a serious traffic accident. The incident drew attention on social media, with many expressing relief that no injuries occurred and commending both the caller and police response.
