Texas Woman Fatally Shot in Alleged Houston Carjacking While Assisting Friend With…

Marietta Allison, a Texas woman, was fatally shot during an alleged carjacking in Houston on March 6, 2026, shortly after helping her friend Cassie Daniel, a stage 4 ovarian cancer patient, receive chemotherapy treatment. Allison had traveled from Austin to Houston to support Daniel during her second round of treatment.

After spending the day at the hospital, Allison dropped Daniel and her father off at a nearby friend’s house around 10:30 p.m. Unable to find parking, Allison circled the block to find a spot. Daniel, inside the house, heard a scream followed by a gunshot but initially did not realize what had happened. When Allison did not return promptly, Daniel and friends attempted to contact her with no success.

Concerned, Daniel went to the last known location of Allison’s phone and found her lying on the sidewalk surrounded by police and paramedics. Allison’s purse and wallet were left at the scene. She was immediately transported to a hospital but pronounced dead due to gunshot wounds to the neck and head.

Houston police launched a search for the stolen vehicle Allison had been driving. Authorities found 18-year-old Darius DeWayne Hall driving the car, triggering a high-speed chase. Hall crashed the vehicle on the Southwest Freeway and fled on foot, leading to a standoff with police in a nearby residential area. He was arrested around 7 a.m. and charged with capital murder related to Allison’s death.

Daniel described Allison’s final moments as filled with compassion, recalling how Allison had cared for her by feeding her a fruit bowl during chemotherapy. The two had become friends in November 2021 through a leadership program.

The Houston Police Department did not comment on the case at the time of the report.
