Alabama Police Arrest More Than 140 Spring Breakers in Two Large Party Raids

Police in Gulf Shores, Alabama, arrested a total of 144 spring breakers in connection with two large and unruly parties held a day apart on West Beach Boulevard, officials said. The second and largest party, which drew 113 attendees, ended after an individual poured beer on a responding officer, prompting multiple agency involvement and arrests.

The incidents took place on March 25 and March 26. On Thursday night around 11 p.m., officers responded to a house at West Beach Boulevard following reports of a large crowd and loud music. Upon arrival, the Gulf Shores Police Department discovered 113 people—mostly underage—inside the residence. As officers attempted to determine who rented the property, an unknown partygoer on a balcony poured beer over one officer, soaking his uniform and equipment.

Authorities arrested 109 individuals at this party for alleged underage drinking. At least one other person was charged with complicity, indicating involvement in facilitating the offense. The house had reportedly been rented by an 18-year-old, according to a report from the New York Post.

The evening before, police had broken up another large gathering in the same area where 31 underage individuals were arrested on charges related to possession of alcohol. Responding officers discovered significant amounts of alcohol inside the residence and noted the party had already drawn law enforcement attention two days prior when about 70 people were found at the location during a prior warning visit.

The arrests follow a broader enforcement effort by Gulf Shores authorities to curb lawlessness among spring break visitors, who have attracted heightened scrutiny for disorderly conduct and underage drinking at beach parties. In a social media statement, the Gulf Shores Police Department emphasized a “zero-tolerance” policy toward behaviors that disrupt the safety and enjoyment of the community, while affirming that all visitors are welcome to enjoy the area’s offerings responsibly.

Why it matters

The coordinated police response serves as a clear warning to spring breakers and other visitors that underage drinking and disorderly behavior will face strict enforcement in Gulf Shores. With the area popular for seasonal tourism, the police department’s firm stance aims to protect public safety and preserve the community’s appeal as a family-friendly destination during a busy influx of young visitors.
