Carrollton police arrest man after two shootings leave two dead, three injured

Carrollton police arrested 69-year-old Seung Han Ho after two shootings Tuesday morning left two people dead and three others injured in incidents linked to a business disagreement, authorities said.

The first shooting occurred just before 10 a.m. at the 4000 block of State Highway 121 in K Towne Plaza. Officers arriving on scene found four adults suffering from gunshot wounds inside the Gwang Jang Korean Market, where police said the victims had been meeting with Ho over a business matter. One male victim died at the scene.

A second shooting was reported at 11:13 a.m. near Carrollton’s Koreatown, at the 2700 block of Old Denton Road close to I-35 and the George Bush Turnpike. Police discovered another adult male fatally shot inside an apartment. Investigators concluded both shootings involved the same suspect.

During interviews, Ho reportedly confessed to shooting all five victims and cited financial disagreements related to their shared business dealings as the motive, Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo said.

Following the shootings, nearby businesses, particularly around the Korean Market, closed temporarily while employees sheltered in place. The community, described as close-knit, expressed shock over the violence in what is normally a quiet area.

The Carrollton Police Department, assisted by the FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety, continues to investigate the events. Police Chief Arredondo extended condolences to the victims’ families and emphasized the need for community healing.

Why it matters

The shootings underscore the potential for business disputes to escalate into fatal violence and highlight ongoing public safety challenges within local communities. The incident prompted a multi-agency response and has deeply affected Carrollton’s Korean community.

Background

Carrollton is a city in Texas featuring diverse commercial areas, including Koreatown, where many Korean-American businesses and residents live and work closely together. Such incidents are rare in the area, emphasizing the gravity of Tuesday’s shootings and their impact on residents and business owners.
